WWE

  • At Clash at the Castle this afternoon, WWE honored the SummerSlam 1992 main event by introducing British Bulldog’s family and showing Bret Hart sitting in the front row. Adrian Street & Miss Linda were also shown in the crowd during the PPV.
  • Paul “Triple H” Levesque tweeted: “You cannot talk about this industry throughout the entire United Kingdom without mentioning the impact of Adrian Street and Miss Linda. Thrilled to have them both here in Cardiff for #WWECastle!”
  • Levesque thanked everyone who watched or attended the PPV: Couldn’t be prouder of what our talent, staff, and local partners accomplished tonight @principalitysta. THANK YOU to all who attended or watched #WWECastle – an amazing night in front of an absolutely electric crowd!!!”
  • UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards was also in attendance at Clash at the Castle. On the pre-show, there was a segment where Liv Morgan was shown speaking with Edwards prior to her title defense against Shayna Baszler.
  • Baszler wore an armband that said “Dink” for her match against Morgan, which was a tribute to the late Alan Denkenson. Denkenson, who was the promoter of Quintessential Pro Wrestling in Las Vegas and a regular at PWG shows, passed away earlier this week following a battle with prostate cancer.
  • WWE announced an attendance of 62,296 for Clash at the Castle. WrestleTix tweeted on August 30 that 62,594 tickets had been distributed for the event.
  • WWE used Drew McIntyre’s old “Broken Dreams” theme music for a video that played before McIntyre entered to face Roman Reigns today.
  • Sheamus shared a photo of the damage that Gunther’s chops did to his chest: “Chops won.. for now. #WWECastle #BangerAfterBanger #ThankYouCardiff”
  • McKenzie Mitchell, Sam Roberts, and NXT UK commentator Andy Shepard will be the pre-show panelists for NXT Worlds Collide tomorrow. The half-hour kickoff show begins at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.
  • Last night’s SmackDown (which was taped a week in advance) averaged 1.97 million viewers in the fast national ratings. The rating in the 18-49 demo was a 0.4.
  • There was an angle on SmackDown last night where Happy Corbin appeared to form an alliance with JBL. After losing to Shinsuke Nakamura, Corbin was backstage when a limo pulled up. JBL asked Corbin what happened to him and then told Corbin to get in. JBL was never shown on the episode but his voice could be heard.
  • In an interview with Gorilla Position, Gunther said it doesn’t frustrate him to hear “WALTER” chants: “No, it won’t frustrate me. In a wrestler’s career it’s pretty normal that your name changes at some point when you go through certain stages, especially with a company like WWE. WALTER is my real name, so I own it and I totally understand that a company like WWE has an interest to basically own their brands a little bit, so I was up for it. I’m not bothered by it at all. So many people need to move on from it a little bit.”
  • Drew McIntyre was the guest on the latest episode of WWE After the Bell.
  • WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded The Undertaker vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Undisputed title from the May 30, 2002 episode of SmackDown, Dolph Ziggler vs. Elias from the November 5, 2018 episode of Raw, and Roman Reigns vs. Finn Balor for the Universal title from the September 3, 2021 SmackDown.
