For this weekend, Garrett Gonzalez and I will be doing a show tonight talking about the news of the week as well as more on the lead stories in the new Observer. Bryan and I will be back Saturday night covering the UFC PPV, Smackdown, Rampage and the rest of the news.

We will be doing weekend polls on both the UFC and the GCW PPV shows, you can leave a thumbs up, down or middle, best and worst match to dave@wrestlingobserver.com

We’re also looking for reports on these shows:

The new issue of the Observer out today is probably our biggest business issue of the year. There are a number of key stores, with one looking at quarter four business, arena shows, television shows and audience breakdowns as well as gains and losses as compared to the previous year. We also compare where AEW and WWE are doing better or worse than the other, and factor in a lot of things that you rarely see brought up in these comparisons including time slot realities and why year-to-year comparisons are misleading.

We also have the annual Business Year in Review, with the biggest crowds, biggest draws, PPV numbers as well as the top draw in pro wrestling every year from 1916-2021 and the top 50 of all-time.

The other key story starts off with WWE’s statement about AEW, but going in depth on that statement including what should be listened to, what is hypocritical in the statement, the reality of television rights fees, why the latter part of 2022 is so important to AEW, the future of AEW, the nature of its audience, television sponsorship of pro wrestling and UFC, the Vince McMahon promotional wars playbook and a lot more.

Charlotte Flair vs. Naomi and Kofi Kingston vs. Madcap Moss have been announced for tonight’s Smackdown show. There will also be a Roman Reigns-Seth Rollins faceoff and a celebration of Reigns’ long title reign. LA Knight and Roderick Strong are in Nashville tonight. They are likely in a dark match. For 205 Live, it’s Javier Bernal vs. Draco Anthony, Bodhi Hayward vs. James Drake and Lash Legend vs. Fallon Henley.

Rampage tonight at 10 p.m.

  • Hook vs. Serpentico
  • Nick Jackson vs. Trent Baretta
  • Jon Moxley vs. Ethan Page
  • Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay for TBS title
