WEDNESDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE
- The Undertaker is in Saudi Arabia and introduced Pitbull at his concert today as part of the start of Riyadh season.
- WWE has debuted a new digital series called “WWE The Build To.” The first two episodes focus on the King of the Ring tournament and the Queen’s Crown tournament.
- The New York Post asked Sasha Banks what message she hopes comes across in the women’s matches at Crown Jewel: “When I go out there and perform, I want not just only females, [but] children, males, I want them to all know that I can do anything. They can accomplish anything no matter what as long as they put their heart and their soul out there. Anybody can have their whole dreams come true.”
- I previewed Crown Jewel for Sports Illustrated.
- On last night’s NXT, Jacy Jayne was removed from her triple threat match against Io Shirai and Persia Pirotta after suffering an apparent injury on a botched suicide dive spot. Shirai & Zoey Stark are scheduled to defend their NXT Women’s Tag Team titles against Jayne & Gigi Dolin and Pirotta & Indi Hartwell at Halloween Havoc next Tuesday.
- Halloween Havoc will include a special edition of Lashing Out with Lash Legend. WWE has also set up a segment for Halloween Havoc where Dexter Lumis and Johnny Gargano told Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams to meet them at a haunted house if Hayes wants to get his North American title belt back from Gargano.
- Last night’s NXT featured another video hyping the appearance of a mysterious wrestler at Halloween Havoc.
- Greg Domino, who formerly worked for Showtime and DAZN, has been hired by WWE as VP of communications.
- Jeff Hardy said on Fox Sports’ Out of Character with Ryan Satin that facing Roman Reigns would be a dream match for him: “Oh, yeah, for sure. When people ask me about dream matches, I’ve been saying that like a maniac. Oh, yeah. I can see the beauty within the match, when I envision it in my head — how powerful it could be. Because his stuff is just so powerful and strong. So, yeah, that’s definitely one.”
- Hardy also named Kevin Owens as someone who he wants to face. Owens responded to Hardy: “That’s a huge compliment. I was really hoping we’d get to face each other soon but we both switched rosters. The silver lining is that everyone knows that a match between us probably wouldn’t end well for either of us but it would be an absolute blast to get in there with Jeff.”
- On the Kurt Angle Show, Samoa Joe discussed CM Punk returning to the ring for AEW: “If I know one thing about Punk — if he’s out on something, he’s out on it. You won’t see him being around it, you won’t see him looking at it, you won’t see him staring at it. It’s out of his life. I think the minute I saw him on the Fox set, I knew his eyes were turning back towards it, and I think he was just looking for the right place and right time. He wanted to be happy with it, and I think he is from what I’ve seen. I’ve gathered that he is and I’m stoked for him, happy that he’s back.”
- Sasha Banks, Finn Balor, and Doudrop were guests on this morning’s edition of WWE’s The Bump.
- WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded Goldberg vs. Sid Vicious in an “I Quit” match from WCW Mayhem 1999, John Cena vs. The Undertaker from the October 9, 2006 episode of Raw, and Chad Gable vs. Shane McMahon in a King of the Ring semifinal match from the September 10, 2019 episode of SmackDown.
Other Wrestling
- MJF made an appearance on Barstool Sports’ Rasslin’ with Brandon Walker yesterday. He responded to Roman Reigns taking shots at AEW:
I’m seeing all this chitter chatter of people in the other company talking smack, people in my company talking smack.
Roman Reigns lost in the key demographic to Ruby Soho and Ruby Soho sucks. So, I don’t know what to tell you. Now, don’t get me wrong, that’s not me sh*tting on Roman Reigns. I think Roman Reigns is a hell of a performer. He really is. I think he’s absolutely incredible. Am I better than him on the mic and in the ring? Yeah, but I’m not gonna go out of my way to talk sh*t about him because I respect him, I respect what he does, I respect the hard work that goes [into] putting out that product that is WWE and again, someday I might work there. Yeah, and I’m also sure if he sees this, he’ll pretend he doesn’t know who I am because that’s what they do over there when in reality I know that they’re all watching our stuff and again, cannot stress this enough, huge fan of Roman Reigns, think he’s great. Would love to work with him one day.
