Monday News Update

Bryan and I will be back tonight for the second of three straight nights of shows of Wrestling Observer Radio. We are doing a Tuesday show this week instead of Wednesday because of the head-to-head tomorrow night.
As noted earlier today, Paul Levesque and Bruce Prichard are both not at Raw tonight. Levesque has COVID but ha been in contact. Brian James is running the show. Prichard was already scheduled to have the show off.
Raw is tonight from Oklahoma City and the competition will be tough tonight. There’s no Bray Wyatt bump and they are going against the NFL, which is the Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos tonight which isn’t as strong as some of the games this season, but it’s also against the deciding game five of the Yew York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians on TBS at 7 p.m. so that will go against the first two hours. The advance is more than 6,000 tickets out. Brock Lesnar is on tonight’s show, presumably for a confrontation with Bobby Lashley, plus Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle for the U.S. title, The Miz vs. Dexter Lumis in a match where if Miz wins, Lumis must leave WWE forever and if Lumis wins, he gets a WWE contract, plus Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Alpha Academy and Elias returns. Cora Jade was also pushed as being on the show to announce who Roxanne Perez faces tomorrow night on NXT. Cameron Grimes may also be on the show. getting his tag team partners against Joe Gacy & The Dyad for tomorrow night.
Tomorrow has a lot on television with both loaded up Dynamites and NXT shows. Dynamite for the Tuesday special has four title matches with Jon Moxley vs. Adam Page for the AEW title, Chris Jericho vs. Dalton Castle for the ROH title, Death Triangle vs. Best Friends for the trios title and Toni Storm vs. Hikaru Shida for the women’s title. Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta, MJF and Saraya are also to appear on the show which takes place at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati.
NXT has Raquel Rodriguez vs. Cora Jade, Sonya Deville vs. Alba Fyre plus several expected main roster wrestlers which are expected to be announced on Raw tonight. We were told there will be a strong push tonight for the show because of it going head-to-head. There is also major league baseball playoffs with the Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Diego Padres, but NBA and NHL all on television tomorrow night.
We’re looking for reports from Oklahoma City tonight with anything not on the live show such as Dark matches or Main Event matches or other notes from people live to dave@wrestlingobserver.com
We’re also looking for your thoughts on AAA TripleMania, with a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to dave@wrestlingobserver.com
The Wrap has a story on the WWE ratings on 9/23, Raw on 10/10 and Extreme Rules with Paul Levesque crediting the increases to the Bray Wyatt teases.
A WWE house show scheduled for 12/27 at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit is canceled and a new date has been added in the building, a Smackdown taping on 1/20. At one point in the local discussions in Atlanta there was talk of moving the 1/1 PPV show to 12/27. As noted yesterday, Brandon Thurston reported Day One was canceled and not moving. WWE officials have not said anything but it is notable that they have shows on 12/26 and 12/28 but nothing on 12/27 which makes no sense either, especially since the week after Christmas is historically he best week to draw at the house shows all year.
UFC fighters were sent a memo today saying based on clear direction from sports betting regulators that all fighters are no longer allowed to bet on UFC fights, nor are embers of their teams. CBO Hunter Campbell noted that many states have restrictions that ban athletes, their families and training teams from getting on any sports that they play because of the ability to have inside information. Fighters can be on fights in other companies.
WWE was covered by CNBC today because the stock hit $76.90 per share today, the highest it has been in more than one year. This is during a down market. We’ve written for months about why WWE stock should do well compared to other stocks, which has to do with most of their revenue being guaranteed so an economic problem won’t hurt them like it would most companies. Some of this is also with the new earnings call coming, there is often a little run-up leading to the earnings calls.
Sammy Guevara has been hired to do the broadcast of the 11/13 Global Titans Fight Series show in Dubai which is where Floyd Mayweather is fighting Deji in the main event and Bobby Fish makes his boxing debut.
There is a bio of Dwayne Johnson called “Dwayne The Rock Johnson: From WRestler to Hollywood Hero” earmarked for a January release.
Tony Khan will be doing a meet and greet on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Daily’s Place at the box office to try and boost ticket sales for the live Friday Rampage show.
WWE
There will be a DVD and Blu Ray release of the movie “Rumble” which WWE studio did, an animated movie featuring the voices of Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch.
