WEDNESDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE
- Ronda Rousey wrestled in her second match for WWE and made her house show debut as she teamed with Ember Moon & Natalya against Mickie James, Ruby Riott & Liv Morgan. It was originally supposed to be Rousey vs. James in a singles match before being changed. Here’s video of the end of the match. Rousey will also be wrestling in Vienna, Turin, and Paris over the next three days.
- Rousey told TMZ that her and Travis Browne want to become parents soon.
- Showtime released another trailer for their documentary on Mauro Ranallo and his mental health battles. Ranallo discusses his bipolar disorder, with the trailer including clips from him at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. The documentary will premiere on May 25th. Ranallo was also a guest on the RIch Eisen Show today.
- Nikki and Brie Bella appeared on the Today Show this morning to promote the third season of Total Bellas.Nikki responded to John Cena’s comments about their relationship from earlier this week, also saying that she has hope that they could get back together.
- El Ligero tweeted about being announced for next month’s United Kingdom Championship tournament: “Overwhelmed by the amount of positive support since the announcement. Thank you for all the comments and messages! And thank you to everyone who has helped me through the years to reach the foot of this mountain. Now it’s time to put in the work and climb it! #WWE #WWEUK #WWEUKCT”
- Gene Okerlund appeared in a Mountain Dew commercial where Kevin Hart plays a wrestler he’s interviewing.
- In a formality, 2K Sports announced that WWE 2K19 will be released this fall.
- Austin Aries congratulated Zelina Vega, his ex-girlfriend, after her SmackDown debut: “Congrats to my ex-girlfriend @Zelina_VegaWWE on her #SmackDownLive debut. I know firsthand all the time, effort, and sacrifice that went into making this special dream a reality.”
- Carmella confirmed that she won’t be returning for the next season of Total Divas.
- Bully Ray tweeted that he once pitched a show called “SuperStar Squared” (based on “Hollywood Squares”) for the WWE Network.
Pro Wrestling
- Minoru Suzuki and Taiji Ishimori have been added to NJPW’s Strong Style Evolved UK shows in Milton Keynes on June 30th and Manchester on July 1st, joining Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii.
- NJPW has an in-character interview with Ishimori about joining the promotion.
- ROH has confirmed three more matches for this month’s Honor United tour. Kenny King is facing Punishment Martinez in Edinburgh on May 24th, Cody Rhodes is wrestling King in London on the 26th, and Jay Lethal vs. Matt Taven is set for Doncaster on the 27th,
- A wrestler from Stardom will be appearing on the Honor United tour.
- The NWA’s latest Ten Pounds of Gold video covers the All In press conference, the show selling out, and the announcement that Cody Rhodes will be challenging for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
- Don Callis addressed the state of Impact Wrestling on this week’s conference call.
- Bryan Alvarez & Tom Lawlor will face The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express at Black Label Pro’s show in Crown Point, Indiana on July 14th.
- Evil Uno clarified that he and Stu Grayson (the Super Smash Brothers) aren’t banned from the United States but can’t legally wrestle there until an American company sponsors their work visas. The team is based in Canada.
UFC/MMA
- The UFC officially announced that they’ll be debuting in Russia with a Fight Night show at Olimpiyskiy Arena in Moscow on September 15th.
- MMA Fighting reported that John Dodson has signed a new four-fight contract with the UFC.
- Daniel Cormier spoke to FloCombat about his fight with Stipe Miocic being a chance to prove he’s one of the greatest of all time.
- Valentina Shevchenko will debut as an analyst on Fox Deportes for Saturday’s Fight Night show in Chile.
- Chael Sonnen thinks Fedor Emelianenko’s humility is part of a gimmick.
