FIGURE FOUR WEEKLY: 11/7/16; California wrestling regulation in 1978
In 1977, Roy Shire’s northern California territory was doing its best business of the entire decade, but it wasn’t offering the usual Roy Shire style of booking with Roy Shire style workers (smaller big bumping blond heel on top) on top. Needing a break and new ideas, he brought in Bob Roop as the booker, who brought in Kevin Sullivan with him…click here to continue.

Friday News Update
WWE & PRO WRESTLING
- HHH did his NXT TakeOver media conference call Friday. It was short and rather uneventful, but he did discuss some of the recent event cancellations, how Mickie James wasn’t thier second choice to face Asuka, and more.
- Chris Jericho was a guest this past weekend on The LAW to promote his live “Talk is Jericho” podcast in Toronto on November 20th. An interesting thread of conversation: whether TNA can turn it around.
“My heart, as a wrestler and as a fan, yes. The worst thing that can happen and I think even fans that do nothing but (expletive) about TNA would admit the worst thing that can happen would be for TNA to go out of business. I think for the boys and the whole industry it would not be good and the thing is, I was kind of looking forward to maybe a Billy Corgan taking over and giving it a fresh coat of paint and trying things a different way because I think that’s what they have to do. I was disappointed, I know Billy, I know Billy’s passion, I know how Billy is, he’s kind of like the reverse me. He’s the only other guy that I know that would legitimately – he made it huge in one industry and has really made a lot of inroads in a completely different industry because he has a passion for both, for music and wrestling. I wanted to see him take over. Sometimes, you have to gut everything…” - Rhyno issued a statement about his losing bid to win a seat in the Michigan House of Representatives.

- Tim Kennedy talks about fighting against Rashad Evans at UFC 205, and his disappointment. On Kelvin Gastelum and Thiago Alves missing weight: “It’s so disrespectful. I mean, it’s so unprofessional. I can’t even process what’s going through somebody’s head to make a choice – and they’re choices – about not making weight. Leading up to the fight, it’s what you’re eating, it’s how hard you’re training, your caloric intake, how much you’re burning. These are all literal choices that an athlete makes. That is a lazy disrespectful asshole that’s doing that. It’s disrespectful to your opponent, it’s disrespectful to the fan. That’s Kelvin Gastelum and Thiago (Alves) saying, ‘I don’t care about the fans’. That’s what they’re doing…”
