This year’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view offered WWE the chance to revitalize one of their best match types.

The Money in the Bank briefcases haven’t been all that much of a factor over the past couple of years. Both men’s winners (Braun Strowman and Baron Corbin) failed on their cash-ins. The women’s winners (Alexa Bliss and Carmella) were successful, but Bliss cashed in on the same night that she won the 2018 ladder match. WWE has missed out on being able to use Money in the Bank as a star-making tool or something to kick off notable angles.

  • United States Champion Rey Mysterio posted a video of himself undergoing platelet-rich plasma treatment for his shoulder injury. Mysterio confirmed that he separated a bit of his AC joint at Money in the Bank.

  • WWE has announced that they’ll be holding a house show at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China on September 21. NXT’s Xia Li and Boa, who are Chinese nationals, are advertised for the show. There will also be a four-day tryout in Shanghai from July 15-18.
  • WWE stock closed the week at $75.87 per share, down one percent from yesterday.
  • Vince McMahon’s XFL put in a bid for some of the defunct and bankrupt AAF’s assets, currently located in San Antonio, Texas.
  • Lio Rush will be doing an autograph signing at MCW Pro Wrestling’s show in Joppa, Maryland on June 1. All proceeds from the event will benefit MCW’s “The Bruiser” RJ Meyer as he battles leukemia.
  • WWE released a trailer for the Performance Center Combine special that’s airing on the WWE Network at 2 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday.
  • WWE.com posted an article asking fans to nominate Bret Hart for Canada’s Walk of Fame.
  • Replicas of the 24/7 Championship are now available for pre-order on WWE Shop for $349.99. The expected in-stock date is July 15.
  • Mandy Rose is on the cover of this month’s edition of Muscle & Fitness Hers magazine.
  • WWE uploaded a video looking at NXT’s greatest moments from Full Sail University.
  • Alexa Bliss and Ricochet presented four $10,000 scholarships to Full Sail students as part of Full Sail’s 10th Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony and 40th Anniversary celebration.

  • Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley told TMZ Sports that he has chronic arthritis in his right hand, but that he hopes to return to action in August.
  • In his interview with Tony Robbins, Conor McGregor claimed that he broke his foot two weeks before his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor says that the injury impacted his training and his weight cut. The full interview is here.
  • McGregor also posted a photo on Instagram with his left hand in a cast.
  • Lance Palmer defeated Alex Gilpin in the main event of Thursday’s PFL 13 show on ESPN +. Lilian Garcia is the announcer for the promotion, and posted a video with Mick Foley, who was in attendance.
  • There was a 10-second, flying knee knockout on the show, as Movlid Khaybulaev finished Damon Jackson. Video of the highlight reel KO can be found here
