WWE
- Prior to TakeOver, Bianca Belair vs. Dakota Kai and War Raiders vs. TM61 are being taped for next week’s NXT TV. Adam Cole and EC3, who don’t have matches on the card, will be making appearances on the pre-show with Charly Caruso, Sam Roberts, and Pat McAfee.
- WWE posted a 10-minute video on Ricochet’s road to TakeOver, which includes him hurting his shoulder in Paris earlier this week.
- While he could still be added if he’s with the company then, Brock Lesnar was noticeably not included in the names that WWE announced for their October 6th stadium show in Melbourne, Australia today.
- There were no women’s matches at last night’s Raw house show in Peoria, Illinois, likely due to preparations for Money in the Bank. Braun Strowman also wasn’t on the show.
- David Bixenspan has an article for Deadspin on documents in Dr. Chris Amann’s lawsuit against CM Punk and Colt Cabana revealing that Amann had relationships with Jillian Hall when she was with WWE and an indie wrestler that he met at a WWE tryout. A WWE spokesperson commented in the story: “We were not aware of this. We are investigating the matter and will determine if any action is warranted.”
- Fox 13 in Memphis has an update on the police investigation into the items that Rusev and Lana said were stolen from their hotel room while in the city this week. A Sony digital camera, $500, and Rusev’s wallet were taken, with a cleaning person (who police said cleaned the room while a “do not disturb” sign was up) as the suspect. She said she found the wallet inside a chicken box in the trash. Security returned the wallet to Rusev, but it didn’t have the money in it.
- PWInsider reported that Dean Ambrose was at the Performance Center over the last several days as he continues to recover from December’s triceps surgery. The report noted that it wasn’t known if Ambrose was working in the ring or just doing physical therapy.
- WWE uploaded Travis Banks vs. El Ligero, Dave Mastiff vs. Kenny Williams, Ashton Smith vs. Joseph Conners, and Flash Morgan Webster vs. James Drake from the first round of the United Kingdom Championship tournament. The matches took place at Download Festival last weekend.
- ESPN.com published an article on Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa’s feud prior to their street fight tonight.
- Nia Jax was interviewed by Yahoo ahead of her title defense against Ronda Rousey.
- Ember Moon also spoke to TV Insider about Money in the Bank and her being in the women’s ladder match.
- WWE looked at “shocking Money in the Bank ladder match moments” for this week’s top 10 list.
- In a clip from their WWE 24 special that will premiere after Sunday’s PPV, The Hardys discussed the inspiration for their Final Deletion match from TNA. It includes footage from the match with the Global Wrestling Network logo.
Pro Wrestling
- The participants for this year’s G1 Climax will be announced at NJPW’s Kizuna Road show tomorrow morning, which begins at 5:30 a.m. Eastern time and has Hirooki Goto challenging for Michael Elgin’s NEVER Openweight Championship in the main event. The G1 blocks and top matches will be announced on Monday and Tuesday.
- The Briscoes had travel issues and didn’t appear at last night’s ROH show in San Antonio. The Kingdom took their place, with The Young Bucks, Marty Scurll & Hangman Page defeating Davey Boy Smith Jr., Lance Archer, Matt Taven & Vinny Marseglia in the main event.
- The Winnipeg Free Press ran a story on Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho’s title wins at Dominion, which includes quotes from Omega, Jericho, and Dave Meltzer.
- In an in-character interview with Sports Illustrated, Cody Rhodes named himself, Omega, Kazuchika Okada, Charlotte Flair, and John Cena as the five best wrestlers in the world.
- Thursday’s episode of Impact averaged 276,000 viewers on Pop TV. That’s down from last week’s 296,000, which was up against the Washington Capitals clinching their Stanley Cup win. Both shows drew a 0.07 rating in the 18-49 demo.
- After undergoing neck surgery, Jazzy Gabert said she’s been given the green light to return to the ring by her doctor. Gabert noted that she’s available for bookings. Gabert’s neck issues kept her from being signed by WWE after last year’s Mae Young Classic.
- Kimber Lee, Viper, Nicole Savoy, Rachael Ellering, Kelly Klein, and Jamie Hayter were among the wrestlers announced for the 2018 Stardom 5 Star Grand Prix.
- Kenny Johnson released a 15-minute documentary on Mike Parrow, his career in pro wrestling, and his journey to coming out as gay.
- A singles match between Rush and LA Park will headline next Friday’s CMLL Arena Mexico show.
UFC/MMA
- Dana White said people are f*cking idiots if they can’t respect what CM Punk did by crossing over into MMA and putting everything on the line.
- Daniel Wanderley, who has coached Punk in jiu-jitsu, said he’s proud of Punk but hopes he will compete in jiu-jitsu instead of MMA going forward.
- While filming “Dana White Lookin’ for a Fight,” White and Matt Serra got involved in a match at Jerry Lawler’s Bar and Grille on Beale Street in Memphis.
- Claudia Gadelha is set to undergo knee surgery next week.
- Domestic violence survivor Jessica-Rose Clark came out against the UFC signing Greg Hardy because she doesn’t believe people like that can change.
- Tyron Woodley claimed that Colby Covington once ran off the mat “basically crying” after a sparring session with him.
- Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber discussed their rivalry together while appearing on the final episode of Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour before he joined ESPN.
- Former cutman Leon Tabbs passed away at 86 years old.

Greetings friends and fans of the F4W / Wrestling Observer website. It’s time to announce the details of the 12th annual F4W / Wrestling Observer Empire Las Vegas Convention~!
This year’s event will be taking place in Las Vegas from August 16th to the 20th and will again be in conjunction with WWE’s SummerSlam weekend a.k.a. Super China Buffet Day~! There will still be the usual events, but our big draw will be WWE’s summer blockbuster PPV, SummerSlam. As per tradition, we will all gorge ourselves at a Las Vegas buffet, and then watch SummerSlam in a rented out movie theater. All information and ticketing prices are available now. This year will also feature a Future Stars Wrestling show which will include the first ever Gladys Gibson Doubles Match Classic!
