FRIDAY NEWS UPDATE

NXT tickets for the 4/5 Takeover show at the Barclays Center went on sale today and were virtually sold out almost immediately.

Peter Polaco (Justin Credible) was arrested on Tuesday on charges of three counts of violating a protective order, third degree criminal mischief, first degree assault and third degree breach of peace. He has now had a number of violations of a protective order filed by his wife Jill in March.

For the weekend Smackdown brand shows, Randy Orton and Becky Lynch are not on the weekend shows. Daniel Bryan is not listed for the Saturday night show in Winnipeg, but he is listed for Sunday in Calgary and Monday in Ontario, CA.

Matt Hardy was strongly hinting that he would be returning to the ring.

Jeff Jarrett led the Tennessee Titans on the field for their game with the Jacksonville Jaguars last night and was there to promote WWE Smackdown coming to Fridays next season.

WWE

  • Comedy Central on 1/4 will have a Ron Funches special with Ric Flair as his guest at 11 p.m.
  • There will be a one-day screening of “Transformers: Bumblebee” tomorrow might at 7 p.m. in a number of theaters before its national release on 12/21. John Cena has a major role in the movie.

  • ROH is doing a Toys for Tots drive next Friday at their Final Battle show at the Hammerstein Ballroom. They are asking everyone attending to bring a new unwrapped toy.
  • Nick Aldis vs. James Storm was announced for the NWA title on a show on 1/5 in Clarksville, TN in conjunction with NWA PopUp Wrestling. 
  • House of Hardcore runs tomorrow night at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia with Tommy Dreamer vs. PCO, Willie Mack vs. Shane Strickland, Nick Aldis vs. Brian Cage for the NWA title, Britt Baker vs. Angelina Love, David Arquette & RJ City vs. Tyrus & Robbie E plus Bully Ray, Big Cass and Joey Ryan.
  • Inspire Pro Wrestling announced MJF vs. Nick Gage for the 1/6 show. Gage replaces PCO.
  • United Wrestling Network and New Japan on Sunday at the Oceanside, CA Pavilion has a show featuring wrestlers from the New Japan dojo with Clark Connors & Alex Coughlin of New Japan facing Adrian Quest & Ray Rosas, plus New Japan’s Karl Fredericks vs. Tyler Bateman. The New Japan dojo coach, Katsuyori Shibata, will be there to watch his students.
  • NFC MMA tonight at the Electric Cowboy in Kennesaw, GA. 
  • The 90s Gangstas tag team from ECW and SMW fame, New Jack & Mustafa Saed, will team up tomorrow for ECPW in Bayonne, NJ.
  • Jimmy Havoc will replace PCO for Smash Wrestling on its 12/16 show in Toronto at the Franklin Horner Community Center. They also have a show on 1/11 in Kitchener, ONT at the Tannery Event Centre and 1/27 in Toronto at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.
