In a week where the entire landscape of the pro wrestling industry is expected to change, the first tree to fall, All Japan Pro Wrestling, at least in the form it has been for the past 28 years, is no more.Tokyo Sports confirmed on 6/12 that the long-rumored split talked about in this publication had started with Mitsuharu Misawa, the President and top star of the company, resigning on 5/28. The news was kept quiet by all parties until the end of the tour and they were hoping to keep it quiet for several more days in an attempt to present a smoother public transition.

  • Tonight’s 205 Live has an I Quit match between Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar that could possibly be the end of their feud.
  • Zak and Roy Bevis, Paige’s brothers, posted on Facebook about Alberto El Patron being under investigation for domestic battery. Zak wrote: “I’ve got too say I’m very worried about my sister, Please keep a eye on her, she had one Prick Known as brad Maddox who took advantage of an 18 year old girl. Physically and mentally abused her. And now she’s with a control freak who think he’s a tough guy cause he’s beats my sister and has money too cover his tracks..I love my sister she will end up like Whitney Houston or Amy Winehouse ….please share this,,I want the world to know that i care about my lil sister…..everyone keep an eye on her …you’ll be argry at me but I love you, I’m writing this on behalf of all the Knights.”
  • Roy wrote: “We got pics from the last 6 months bro of her beating I’m glad she’s finally sticking up for yourself..the reason there fighting yesterday is cause my uncle on his last legs in hospital and he wished him dead.” Roy either deleted or made private a post that alleged that El Patron was trying to get Paige fired from WWE and wouldn’t let her go back to the company.
  • Triple H again invited Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor to promote their boxing match on Raw. He wrote on Twitter: “Monday Night #Raw has plenty of LIVE microphones… #MayMacWorldTour @thenotoriousmma @FloydMayweather”
  • There was a cliffhanger on last night’s Raw with Kurt Angle telling someone who’s associated with the mysterious text messages that he’s been receiving to come to next week’s show and that he loves them. Angle said that he will “go public” with information next week.
  • WWE posted a video on their YouTube channel with ICW’s Mark Dallas announcing that Pete Dunne will be defending his WWE UK title against Wolfgang, BT Gunn, and Trent Seven at ICW’s Shug’s Hoose Party 4 night one show on July 29th.
  • Matt Hardy further teased The Hardys’ “Broken” characters coming to WWE: “The CELESTIAL VOICES have told me that change is coming.”
  • John Cena went undercover on Twitter, YouTube, and Reddit.
  • 2K Sports uploaded the trailer with Kurt Angle being revealed as the pre-order bonus character for WWE 2K18.

Pro Wrestling

  • PWG has announced four more participants for this year’s Battle of Los Angeles, bringing the total number up to 14. Zack Sabre Jr., Sammy Guevara, Mark Haskins, and Jonah Rock were the four new names. Rock, an Australian wrestler who previously teamed with TMDK in Pro Wrestling NOAH, will be making his PWG debut and was an unexpected addition.
  • MLW will be putting on a “One-Shot” pro wrestling show at the GILT Nightclub in Orlando, Florida on October 5th. Court Bauer and Wale will be teaming up for the show, with Wale serving as the co-executive producer of it. He spoke to Sports Illustrated about the event and shouted out our Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez.
  • Marty Scurll appeared on the episode of the Steve Austin Show that was released today.
  • The new Fire Pro Wrestling video game is now available on Steam Early Access.
  • Donovan Dijak will face Timothy Thatcher in an Atlas title number one contender’s match at PROGRESS’ show in New York on August 12th.
  • Northeast Wrestling posted a video of Jerry Lawler and Cody Rhodes building up their upcoming match.

UFC/MMA

  • The promotional tour for Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor began today and will continue through Friday. The two had their first staredown in front of a very pro-McGregor crowd at the Staples Center. While it had its moments, the rest of this week’s stops will have to be better for the press conferences to live up to their hype.
  • As he always does for his fights, McGregor made a prediction and said that he will knockout Mayweather within four rounds.
  • The UFC uploaded a video blog with Dana White and McGregor prior to today’s press conference.
  • White admitted that McGregor may never fight again with how much money he’s being paid for facing Mayweather.
  • Lance Pugmire of the LA Times revealed that the Mayweather vs. McGregor pay-per-view will cost $99.95 for the HD broadcast. A standard definition option will be offered for $89.95. That’s the same price as Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao.
  • McGregor told TMZ that Mayweather should have paid his taxes and stayed retired. That was in response to a report that Mayweather owes $22.2 million in taxes from 2015.
  • Floyd Mayweather Sr. interrupted McGregor’s session with the media after today’s event.
  • The Fight Network will be broadcasting the Mayweather/McGregor press conferences in Canada.
  • Ariel Helwani tweeted that he won’t be working for Showtime on the Mayweather vs. McGregor press tour because UFC specifically asked for him to be removed from the broadcasts.
  • Helwani noted that the UFC is targeting Justin Gaethje vs. Eddie Alvarez for later this year, with the two of them perhaps coaching the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.
  • Robert Whittaker said that he’s going to break Michael Bisping’s face when the two fight.
  • Campbell McLaren of Combate Americas declined to comment on the Alberto El Patron domestic battery investigation until more information is available.
