SATURDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE
- Last night’s SmackDown averaged 1.978 million viewers in the fast national ratings, along with drawing a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo. The show was back on Fox last night after airing on FS1 the previous week due to the World Series. Final ratings for the show will be out on Monday.
- Johnny Gargano defeated Kyle O’Reilly in their dark match before SmackDown last night. Amari Miller also defeated Dakota Kai in a dark match before the show.
- Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo are now using the tag team name “Los Lotharios.” They defeated Cesaro & Mansoor on last night’s SmackDown. WWE’s roster page also now lists them as “Angel” and “Humberto” without their last names.
- This week’s Talking Smack featured interviews with Sonya Deville, Ricochet, and Sami Zayn.
- Kevin Owens tweeted from WWE’s UK tour: “Wrestling in front of crowds again is so great but being away from my wife and kids sure hasn’t gotten any less hard. London tonight, Raw in Louisville on Monday and then I get to go home to these incredible, beautiful people that I miss so much…I love you guys!”
- Doudrop spoke to the Nottingham Post about being part of the UK tour: “This is officially my first Raw tour and, although I’m not going home to Scotland, for me, this is a massive full circle moment. Places like Nottingham, Brighton, London and Sheffield were all my old stomping grounds, where I cut my teeth, where I grew up. So I’m really excited to come back and see everybody and to be at some of these huge venues like Wembley. I’m just buzzing!”
- Top Dolla appeared on this week’s episode of WWE After the Bell.
- WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship from Taboo Tuesday 2005, Charlotte vs. Brie Bella vs. Sasha Banks from Battleground 2015, and Rey Mysterio vs. Cena from the November 6, 2003 episode of SmackDown.
Other Wrestling
- In the fast national ratings, last night’s Rampage averaged 556,000 viewers, with 267,000 of those viewers being in the 18-49 demo. The previous week’s Rampage averaged 623,000 viewers and drew a 0.25 in the final ratings.
- Before Rampage, Tony Khan apologized to the crowd in St. Louis for Full Gear not taking place in the city. Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis was originally supposed to host the pay-per-view, but the location had to be changed when the show was moved back to Saturday, November 13. The move was so that AEW could avoid Full Gear going against tonight’s UFC PPV at Madison Square Garden and the Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant boxing match. Full Gear is now taking place at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
- AEW uploaded an eight-minute clip of CM Punk and Eddie Kingston’s incredible face-to-face confrontation from last night’s Rampage. Punk vs. Kingston is set for Full Gear.
- In an interview with Pro Wrestling Torch, Tony Khan was asked what percentage of the time he sticks with his booking plans and how often things change: “It’s probably two out of three times. One out of three times something changes, it’s not what you expected, somebody gets sick, and then you put a replacement in and then that starts going well and you move in another direction. So, I would say it’s probably about two out of three times if I draw stuff up and map stuff up.”
- Khan also spoke about CM Punk being a star that TNT/TBS want to build around: “I was on with TNT yesterday, they’re so excited about the direction we’re going and the future of the business and there’s so many possibilities they see for the AEW franchise and [Punk’s] one of the big stars they want to build around. The TNT executives also had a great call with Punk and talked to him and they want him to know he’s a really valued member of the TNT WarnerMedia family, the TBS family.”
- A Lucha Libre AAA/Big Lucha show that was scheduled to take place at Metepec Fair on November 10 has been postponed after a criminal group hung up a banner threatening fair performers not to show up “unless they want the blood of their fans or themselves to be spilled.”
- Scarlett Bordeaux tweeted after being released by WWE: “I’ve been a free agent for less than 24 hours and I just got a magazine cover and now discussing potential clothing lines… we’re about to have a lot of fun!”
- Catalina Garcia (formerly known as Katrina Cortez), who is from Chile and was released from NXT on Thursday, wrote about her visa situation: “At 18 I made the decision to travel to an unknown country, without knowing English I came here… today I receive an email telling me that my visa expires next month and I will have to sell everything that with much love and effort I have achieved.”
- Bobby Fish is the guest on the latest edition of the AEW Unrestricted podcast.
