The ending of Super ShowDown brought a scary end to what was an embarrassing night for WWE.

Goldberg vs. The Undertaker reinforced the amount of risk that exists when you put two 50-year-old wrestlers against each other. The match was laid out exactly as it should have been and was on its way to being good, but things fell apart when Goldberg got knocked out.

Goldberg (who already had a mark on his forehead going into the match) got busted open when he went for a spear into the corner and rammed his head into the post less than three minutes in. From there, things only got worse.

  • On last night’s SmackDown, it was announced that Asuka & Kairi Sane will face Peyton Royce & Billie Kay at one of WWE’s house shows in Tokyo, Japan later this month. If Asuka & Sane win, they’ll get a future shot at Royce & Kay’s Women’s Tag Team titles. WWE has house shows at Sumo Hall on June 28 and June 29. Royce & Kay defending their titles against Asuka & Sane had been advertised for night one.
  • After disguising himself as Carmella, Drake Maverick won the 24/7 Championship from R-Truth on SmackDown.
  • After losing his mom earlier this month, Andrade announced that his aunt has passed away: “Now my aunt, now you are with my mom, I love you!! Fam.. OROPEZA RIP siempre en mi !!!”
  • WWE Studios and Netflix officially announced “The Main Event.” The movie will star Seth Carr, Tichina Arnold, Ken Marino, Adam Pally, Kofi Kingston, The Miz, Sheamus, and others from WWE. Production began this week, with the movie scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2020.
  • A case study on WWE will be part of Anita Elberse’s “The Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports” course at Harvard Business School this fall.
  • Former XFL player Rod “He Hate Me” Smart has been located and is safe after being reported missing.
  • John Cena has been nominated for the Choice Action Movie Actor in this year’s Teen Choice Awards. AJ Styles is nominated for Choice Male Athlete and the Bellas are nominated for Choice Female Athlete.
  • Cena attended San Diego Padres pitcher Logan Allen’s debut after previously motivating Allen by making a one-dollar bet that he wouldn’t make it to the MLB.
  • Nikki & Brie rewatched their match against each other from Hell in a Cell 2014.

  • Lucha Libre AAA held a press conference today to officially announce that they’re  holding a show called Invading LA at The Forum in Inglewood, California on October 13. Tickets are now available via pre-sale (using the code “LUCHA”).
  • Marty Scurll vs. Flip Gordon and a four corner survival match between Jeff Cobb, Jonathan Gresham, Kenny King, and Dalton Castle are set for ROH’s post-Best in the World TV tapings at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia on June 29. The four corner survival match will be for the ROH World Championship if Cobb defeats Matt Taven for the title at Best in the World.
  • ROH announced the rules for Jonathan Gresham and Silas Young’s Pure Rules match at Best in the World. Each wrestler will have three rope breaks. Closed-fist punches to the face are not allowed, with the first receiving a warning and the second resulting in a DQ.
  • Ahead of retiring at the Tokyo Dome in January 2020, Jushin Thunder Liger will have his final match for CMLL at Arena Mexico on July 19.
  • Tony Schiavone is returning to the MLW broadcast booth in July.
  • Savio Vega will make his MLW debut at the promotion’s tapings at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York on July 25.
  • Regional law firm Farah & Farah will be the presenting sponsor of AEW Fight for the Fallen. The show is taking place in Jacksonville, Florida on July 13 and will benefit the Jacksonville Victim Assistance Advisory Council.
  • AAW released a 21-minute documentary on Eddie Kingston.
