With an upcoming Universal title shot at Hell in a Cell, WWE seems poised to elevate Bray Wyatt’s Fiend character to the absolute top of the company.

Sunday’s Clash of Champions pay-per-view ended with an angle to kickstart The Fiend’s program against Seth Rollins. After Rollins retained the Universal Championship against Braun Strowman in the main event, The Fiend appeared and attacked Rollins as he was celebrating on the stage. The lights went out during the celebration, with The Fiend then hitting Sister Abigail on Rollins and putting him in the Mandible Claw.

The next night on Raw also included an angle with The Fiend. At the start of the show, it was confirmed that Rollins will defend his Universal title against The Fiend inside of Hell in a Cell at next month’s PPV. In the main event segment, The Fiend put Kane in the Mandible Claw after Kane made an appearance in Knoxville, Tennessee and saved Rollins from Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler, AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson. The Fiend then taunted a terrified Rollins, and the show ended with a distorted version of the Firefly Fun House theme song and intro video.

WWE

  • SmackDown tonight takes place at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. The featured storyline involves Roman Reigns intending to “clear the air” with Daniel Bryan following an attack on both of them by Erik Rowan and Luke Harper. Kofi Kingston will also take part in a sit-down interview to talk about his upcoming title match against Brock Lesnar. Shane McMahon has invited Kevin Owens to the show so they can settle their lawsuit, and Carmella will team with Charlotte Flair to take on Bayley & Sasha Banks.
  • 205 Live will feature the show debut of Danny Burch, as he will team with Oney Lorcan to battle Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak & Tony Nese. Humberto Carrillo will also face his cousin Angel Garza in singles action.
  • Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that 205 Live may be moving to Friday nights starting next week. That way, the show would continue to air live following SmackDown. It was also noted in the report that the series is now in the hands of the NXT creative team.
  • Last night’s dark match featured Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair defeating Sasha Banks & Bayley.
  • Mickie James was part of the commentary team for last night’s Main Event tapings. James underwent surgery for a torn ACL in July.
  • Progressive will be the presenting sponsor of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX.
  • Carmella is the current 24/7 Champion after pinning R-Truth to win the title last night.
  • Baron Corbin is now being referred to as King Corbin on the WWE website.
  • WWE 2K20 has posted a video showing Chyna’s entrance in the upcoming video game.
  • Today is Stephanie McMahon’s 43rd birthday. WWE uploaded a Playlist episode looking at her most memorable moments.
  • Sonya Deville also turns 26 today and Shane Thorne turns 34.
  • The WWE PC YouTube page has a video showing Roderick Strong the day of the NXT premiere on the USA Network.
  • Brad Pitt talked to Cathy Kelly about his upcoming film Ad Astra. He was asked about performing in a WWE ring and didn’t seem interested.
  • Glenn Jacobs’ upcoming book titled Mayor Kane: My Life In Wrestling and Politics, is now available for pre-order.

Pro Wrestling

  • Cody confirmed on Twitter that AEW Dynamite will be rated TV-14.
  • Ashley Vox, Marti Belle, and Thunder Rosa have been added to the NWA’s TV tapings in Atlanta on September 30 and October 1.
  • Joe Hendry and Marty Scurll will be wrestling in the Vegas Wild Card eight-man tag match at Saturday’s ROH TV tapings. Hendry & Jay Briscoe have been announced for one team, while Scurll & Jeff Cobb are the first two wrestlers announced for the other.
  • The first episode of Arn Anderson & Conrad Thompson’s podcast was released today.
  • This week’s MLW Fusion episode has been uploaded to YouTube. The Dynasty (MJF & Richard Holliday) defended their Tag Team titles against The Hart Foundation (Teddy Hart & Davey Boy Smith Jr.) in a two-out-of-three falls match.

UFC/MMA

  • Matt Hughes is suing the train operator over the train crash that nearly killed him back in June of 2017.
  • Jeremy Stephens has been suspended for 180 days (or until he is cleared by an ophthalmologist) for the corneal abrasion he suffered this past weekend.
  • Jorge Masvidal has started a video series called The Diary of A Street Fighter building to his fight against Nate Diaz.
