Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet set for AEW fifth anniversary episode of Dynamite
The rematch fans have wanted to see for years will be a reality in just two weeks time as AEW International Champion Will Ospreay will defend against Ricochet.
The match will take place on the fifth anniversary episode of Dynamite on Wednesday, October 2nd, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The match was announced during Wednesday’s show shortly after Ricochet’s victory over The Beast Mortos. He found Ospreay in the back who apologized for the heat between them since they came face-to-face backstage at All Out.
Ricochet said he thought about what Ospreay said recently about getting his wins up and from his perspective, people in the back seem more concerned about him as opposed to Ospreay. He said no one is trying to call Ospreay out.
He then wished Ospreay luck in going after the Tag Team titles at Dynamite Grand Slam and revealed he went to Tony Khan and got himself a match against Ospreay for the title in two weeks.
The rivalry between the two dates back to 2013 when they first battled in RevPro and continued in places like PWG and NJPW where they had one of the most memorable athletic matches in recent memory. They last shared the ring in August 2017.
It’s the first match announced for the company’s fifth anniversary show.
