Update on Daniel Garcia’s contract status with AEW

An update is available on Daniel Garcia.
The 25-year-old from Buffalo was stretchered out of the July 3 AEW Dynamite following an attack by MJF. Our own Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer addressed the angle and Garcia’s status with AEW on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
“When they did that angle, they were aware that he may not be back and so the angle was done in case he doesn’t come back and if he does come back then they’ve got a storyline feud with MJF,” Alvarez said on the show.
“I know he had been thinking about it, or he had told people he had been thinking about what he was going to do, which he should do, check with both sides or whatever if your deal is coming up. I don’t think it’s 100 percent that he’s coming back, I will say that, but I don’t think that he has re-signed or decided to leave yet but that was one of the reasons that he was taken out in that storyline.”
Alvarez’s comments were in response to a question about the below post from Ibou of WrestlePurists.
“He has not (re-signed), he has interest from other companies, he has not made his decision, AEW is confident he will stay and if/when that’s official, he will slot back into a feud with MJF,” he later added.
Garcia debuted for AEW in September 2020 and officially signed with the company 13 months later in October 2021. He joined the Jericho Appreciation Society in March 2022 and a few months later had a four and three-quarter star match against Bryan Danielson on the July 27, 2022 episode of Dynamite.
