Tony Khan on Ricochet: ‘I’d rather not get into wrestlers that still work for someone else’

Tony Khan doesn’t want to talk about Ricochet.

Ricochet was seemingly written off WWE programming on Monday night amid reports he does not plan to re-sign with the company. Khan was asked about the possibility of his company signing Ricochet during a recent interview with TV Insider but responded that he’s not going to talk about wrestlers still contracted to other organizations.

“If it’s okay, I’d rather not get into wrestlers that still work for someone else,” Khan responded to a question about Ricochet.

Our own Dave Meltzer addressed the latest he’s heard regarding Ricochet in Monday’s Daily Update.

“The prevailing belief is Ricochet is headed to AEW but nobody has confirmed that, only that he made his decision,” Meltzer wrote.

On Sunday, Meltzer wrote:

“We were told by someone very close to the situation that he had not given notice. But he had not signed a new deal (his contract is coming due shortly) and the decision of what he was doing next was up in the air. But obviously with Andrade winning the Speed title on Friday with the match seemingly moved up since Andrade had also won the tournament final Friday, it would indicate WWE expected him to be gone soon. A few hours ago we were told he had made up his mind regarding his decision. The confirmation of what the decision was not told to us directly but the signs would indicate leaving, but as noted the only thing confirmed to us this afternoon is a decision has since been made.”

Last month, AEW’s Will Ospreay described WWE’s use of his former rival as “appalling” and said he hoped to wrestle him again.

Ospreay said:

“I just want people to remember who he is. If you go and look at 2012-2013 Dragon Gate Ricochet, he was untouchable at the time. I don’t know how much longer he has got in his contract, but I think it might be up soon, man, I don’t know, maybe. I want him to know that there are people here that genuinely appreciate his work and I want to wrestle him again. I want him back here. I want him to know that there isn’t a bar. You are the f*cking bar.”
