Tony Khan: ‘Most of the top Black wrestlers in the world are now in AEW’

Tony Khan believes most of the top Black wrestlers in the world are currently in All Elite Wrestling.
The AEW president was a guest CHGO Sports recently and was asked about the success wrestlers such as Swerve Strickland, The Hurt Syndicate, Ricochet and Lio Rush are having in his promotion right now.
“I think that these are all some of the best wrestlers in AEW you just named. So, we’re really lucky to have those great stars, and we’ve been fortunate to be able to build up some stars and also have a lot of great free agents come in to where I think so many of the top wrestlers, some of the top Black wrestlers in the world, are in AEW. I really think most of the top Black wrestlers in the world are now in AEW. I think that is a conscious thing, but I also think it’s great, and it’s awesome to hear that. I’m glad that that’s something that’s connected with you, and it means a lot. Thank you for saying that.”

MVP recently commented on The Hurt Syndicate not being about race in a since-deleted post on X. He confirmed rumors that WWE was interested in turning the Hurt Business into a new version of The Nation of Domination, writing, “There was a moment during the ‘PC Era’ when the old man wanted to turn “The Hurt Business” into NOD 2.0. He even brought in Mark & Ron. We fought him on it. Our group was NEVER about RACE. It’s always been about our organic friendship and desire to make money doing what we love!”
The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley is scheduled to make his AEW in-ring debut this weekend at Full Gear. He’ll face former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland in singles competition.
