Tony Khan: It wouldn’t ‘be fair at all’ to expect Kenny Omega back by AEW Winnipeg show

Kenny Omega is not expected back in time for AEW’s upcoming shows in Canada.
Omega announced in December that he was out indefinitely after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. The following month, our own Dave Meltzer reported that Omega was going to wait until March before determining if he’ll have surgery. There is currently no timetable for his return.
During the AEW Revolution post-event press conference, Tony Khan was asked about Omega being advertised for AEW’s show in Winnipeg on May 1 and if he could potentially be cleared by then.
Khan responded:
I don’t think it would be fair at all to create that expectation that Kenny Omega would be cleared by then.
I really appreciate the question. I’m very optimistic Kenny will be coming back, but I don’t know the exact date.
I think that’s an aggressive timetable
The AEW show in Winnipeg was originally scheduled for April 10 but was rescheduled to May 1 last week. In the most recent issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, our own Dave Meltzer noted, “The 4/10 show in Winnipeg, a Dynamite taping, has been moved to 5/1. The change was made because they are doing rerouting of some dates now that COO Kosha Irby is in charge of the schedule.”
AEW will run Ottawa on March 16, Toronto on March 20, Quebec City on March 27, and London, Ontario on March 30. The company then returns to Canada on May 1 in Winnipeg, May 8 in Edmonton, May 11 in Vancouver, and then back to Calgary on July 10.
