Tony Khan declines to respond to CM Punk’s AEW criticisms

Tony Khan has chosen not to respond to CM Punk’s recent criticisms of AEW and Khan’s leadership.

During today’s ROH Supercard of Honor media call, Khan was asked about Punk’s comments on The MMA Hour this week referring to Khan as “not a real boss” and AEW as “not a real business.” Khan responded that he would prefer not to talk about the comments and would rather focus on Friday’s pay-per-view.

Khan joins Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross as those who have publicly said they will not be addressing Punk’s comments. Schiavone stated he doesn’t “give a s–t” about Punk’s statements naming him in the story about a backstage altercation with Jack Perry. Ross also noted on his podcast that it’s “time to move on.”

However, Adam Copeland’s promo on AEW Dynamite this week appeared to reference Punk’s controversial interview. Copeland referred to “the negative BS that has been spewed” before cutting a promo about AEW having made the wrestling industry better.

“AEW has pushed this industry into a better place,” Copeland said. “AEW has pushed everyone into a better place. It’s given more people a chance to do what they love for a living, and that should be celebrated. AEW makes pro wrestling better, more fun. And AEW is where the best wrestle.”
