Thunder Rosa addresses allegations she ‘sandbagged’ Marina Shafir on AEW Dynamite

Thunder Rosa has responded to allegations she “sandbagged” Marina Shafir on AEW Dynamite last week. 

Following the show, there were accusations made on social media and elsewhere that Rosa was uncooperative with her opponent in the match. During an interview with Ariel Helwani on Wednesday, Rosa was asked if these reports were true. 

“No, and I’m going to say it how I said it in the New York Post, I have nothing but respect for my opponents, nothing but respect for my opponents. Anyone that dares to stay in the ring with me, I have nothing but respect to my opponents and I send them nothing but blessings.” 

“Moving on forward, I will continue to work harder to have the best matches I can bring and to bring the most opportunities for all the women that are behind me.”

“People are going to talk and that’s fine, I’m not worried about that. I will continue to move forward and I will continue to show with my body of work what I am all about. That’s all I have to say.” 

Later in the interview, Helwani asked Rosa if she respected Britt Baker and if Baker had respect for her. 

“I have respect for my opponents, every single opponent I meet in there,” Rosa responded. “Every time we’ve been in the ring, we’ve been fine. We’ve had great matches.”

Rosa also commented on doing color commentary for Combate Global next month. 

“I’m super excited because this is another face that people don’t see. I have done commentary in Spanish for AEW, now I’ve worked for Busted Open Radio, I do radio, and now I’m going to do commentary for MMA, which again I’m super ready to learn new stuff, to meet the fighters, to research about the fighters, just to get back in there and just feel it again. Combates Global has such a special place in my heart.”
