Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee earn AEW Tag Team title shot on Dynamite

Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland are the new number one contenders for the AEW World Tag Team titles.

Wednesday’s Dynamite saw Lee & Swerve defeat FTR to become the new number one contenders. The finish of the match saw The Gunn Club, who were at ringside, hold Cash Wheeler back as Lee and Swerve hit their finish on Dax Harwood for the win. It was not said when Lee & Swerve would be getting their title match against current champions The Acclaimed.

After the match, The Gunn Club entered the ring and continued to beat down FTR. The Acclaimed, who were watching the match on the stage, came in for the save, evening the odds.

The number one contenders match was made last week, after FTR said they finally wanted their shot at the titles. Swerve and Lee, the former champions, came in and said they were due for a rematch. The match to determine the next challengers was eventually made for Wednesday’s show.

The upcoming title match will be the rubber match between the two teams. Swerve and Lee retained the titles against The Acclaimed at All Out. However, the rematch at Grand Slam on September 21 saw a different result, with The Acclaimed winning the titles for the first time.
