Sammy Guevara done focusing on negativity, won’t comment on Andrade AEW altercation

Sammy Guevara isn’t commenting on the altercation he had with Andrade El Idolo at last week’s Dynamite.

On the latest episode of his vlog, Guevara briefly addressed the situation with Andrade. Guevara said he knows people want him to comment on what exactly happened, but he’s done focusing on the negativity.

“I know some people want me to comment on what exactly happened backstage at AEW Dynamite,” Guevara said. “But man, I’m done focusing on the negativity. I feel like when you are on this trajectory to where I’m headed, there’s going to be people that are going to do everything in their power to try to drag you down to their level. And I know I’m above that. So I’m not going to focus on any of that bullsh*t. I’m going to focus on where I’m headed. They say sky’s the limit, but there’s a whole universe out there, and that’s where I’m headed. I’m not going to focus — I’m not going to comment on any of the bullsh*t.”

Guevara said he’ll instead focus on the things he’s grateful for in life like his health, his wife Tay Melo, his job with AEW, and his fans.

Andrade was sent home following the confrontation with Guevara at Dynamite last Wednesday. Guevara still wrestled on the show, teaming with Chris Jericho to defeat Bryan Danielson & Daniel Garcia in the main event.

Andrade was also pulled from a match against Preston “10” Vance that was scheduled for last Friday’s Rampage.

The physical altercation between Guevara and Andrade happened after the two got into a war of words on Twitter earlier in the week. That war of words included Andrade tweeting that he would see Guevara on Wednesday.

The Twitter exchange started after Andrade said in an interview with Mas Lucha that Guevara is the one wrestler who he’s had a problem with in AEW. Andrade said Guevara once complained in the locker room about Andrade hitting him too hard during a match.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there are multiple stories going around about what happened during last week’s Guevara/Andrade incident:

There are multiple versions of the story out from different talent. The version of the story we heard by someone I would personally trust the most in a situation like this is that the altercation was that Andrade attacked Guevara with no warning, landed two punches and it was quickly broken up. Guevara wasn’t injured at all, as he had no marks on his face and wrestled in the main event later that night. He was not punished because he was attacked and didn’t fight back, but it was broken up immediately.

The other version, which [many] have said, is that Andrade spun Guevara around by the arm, Guevara shoved him in retaliation and Andrade landed two punches before it was broken up. This person said Andrade started it, Guevara shouldn’t have shoved him but he was just reacting to be attacked, and that Chris Jericho pushed that Guevara shouldn’t be punished because he didn’t throw a punch in retaliation.
