Ryan Nemeth has filed suit against Tony Khan, AEW, and CM Punk.

Multiple reports emerged Sunday stating Nemeth is alleging assault and breach of contract stemming from a backstage altercation with Punk in AEW on June 21, 2023.

“Ryan Nemeth filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court against AEW and Phil Brooks. We’ve had several stories over the last two years covering this case,” our own Dave Meltzer posted to X.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp is reporting Nemeth’s suit was filed on February 14, 2025, and is for “assault, breach of contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and intentional interference with prospective advantage.”

Shortly after Punk returned on the debut episode of AEW Collision on June 17, 2023, Nemeth tweeted, “Literally the softest man alive,” seemingly referring to Punk. Days later, Punk reportedly confronted Nemeth about the comment backstage.

In August 2023, Nemeth was among several wrestlers sent home from an AEW Collision taping in Greensboro, North Carolina, reportedly due to Punk’s concerns over potential backstage drama.

Nemeth filed a complaint with AEW executives in September 2023 over the company’s response to the incidents involving him and Punk.
