Rey Fenix announced for May indie event

The in-ring return for Rey Fenix is finally on the horizon.

On Friday, Northeast indie promotion House of Glory announced that the former AEW International and Tag Team Champion will be in action on their Sunday, May 5th Cinco de Mayo event in Jamaica, New York.

Unless he makes his AEW in-ring return before then, it will be Fenix’s first match since losing the International title to Orange Cassidy on the October 10th Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite.

Fenix has been on the shelf recovering from what he called an old injury and one he feels is the worst he’s ever had — one that Dave Meltzer reported as either being a bad back, bad hip or both. In October, Fenix said the injury had been bothering him since September’s Grand Slam event.

Fenix’s brother and fellow AEW roster member Penta El Zero Miedo has continued on, competing as both a singles wrestler and teaming up with Komander.

While AEW has announced there will be a tournament for the vacant Tag Team titles, they have not formally announced teams and brackets, leaving open the possibility the Lucha Brothers will enter and attempt to once again hold the titles.
