Report: Jade Cargill expected at WWE Performance Center this week

Jade Cargill is expected in WWE shortly.

According to a report from PWInsider, Cargill’s AEW contract has expired and she’s scheduled to report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando this week.

Cargill’s AEW departure was addressed in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by our own Dave Meltzer.

Meltzer wrote:

Those in WWE believed she was coming and that it would be on the main roster rather than developmental, but I could see that going either way. Another person in WWE described it to us as that her name was being talked about a lot, but the deal was not completed at press time. The money it would take to get her would have been far more than they pay those in developmental, but while she has a star look and is a great athlete, her skill set and experience level is not at WWE main roster woman levels. But good workers are there to make the less experienced and more marketable workers look better than they are. One person in WWE described this as coming out of the blue, but that they do expect her to be coming in.

The 31-year-old finished up with AEW last Wednesday at the Rampage tapings in Cincinnati, where her husband Brandon Phillips played most of his MLB career. Mark Sterling held up a Cincinnati Reds jersey with Phillips’ name and number on the back as Cargill made her ring entrance on the show. Phillips was in attendance as well.

Cargill spent most of her AEW career undefeated, having won her first 60 matches with the promotion. However, after dropping her final two match to Kris Statlander, she finished her run with a 60-2 record.

Cargill held the TBS Championship for 508 days after becoming the inaugural title-holder by beating Ruby Soho in the finals of a tournament on January 5, 2022. She defended it successfully 25 times before losing to Statlander in an impromptu match at Double or Nothing on May 28, 2023.
