Powerhouse Hobbs has been backstage visiting AEW doctors

Powerhouse Hobbs is making good progress in his injury recovery, but he isn’t ready to return yet.
Hobbs underwent surgery to repair his patellar tendon after suffering a significant knee injury during a match on AEW Dynamite this April. He was reportedly backstage at Dynamite in Milwaukee this week, which Tony Khan confirmed while speaking with the wrestling media on Thursday afternoon.
When asked about Hobbs’ status, Khan said Hobbs has been at multiple AEW events visiting doctors and getting check-ups. AEW is looking forward to getting Hobbs back soon, though he still needs “some time” to recover.
“Will Hobbs has been visiting the doctors,” Khan said. “It’s been several months of Will Hobbs being out. We’re hoping to get him back soon, but I think there’s still some time he needs for the recovery. But Powerhouse Hobbs is a huge part of AEW. He’s been a great champion here in AEW. He’s absolutely one of the most popular stars. And we really look forward to getting Will Hobbs back. I can’t say the exact date, but he’s definitely somebody in our plans that we want to get going into AEW again soon. And it’s bene really nice to see Powerhouse Hobbs backstage a couple of times lately visiting us. This wasn’t the first time we’ve seen him, which is a good thing that he keeps coming in for check-ups and is making good progress.”
Hobbs’ injury happened while facing Jon Moxley on the April 24 episode of Dynamite from Jacksonville. He hurt his knee while going for a splash into the corner.
Paul Wight recently had huge praise for Hobbs, calling him one of the top three nicest and most humble people he’s ever met in wrestling. The 33-year-old Hobbs is a former TNT Champion for AEW.
