During last Wednesday’s rundown for the second night of the New Year’s Smash editions of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that The Elite would be in action. While not specifically stated as such, it was assumed that would mean AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks.
However, after a Don Callis and Omega promo released over the weekend, the timing and a note in this past week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega might be teaming with Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers instead.
At the end of Dynamite, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows made a surprise appearance to join Omega, later reforming a faction with former Bullet Club teammates Matt and Nick Jackson to close the show.
In this week’s WON, Dave Meltzer noted that Nick thought he broke his leg during the night’s opening eight man tag match, later diagnosed as a contusion. However, Meltzer said, “At press time, he thinks he’ll be okay to wrestle by 1/20, which is the next taping since the 1/13 show was taped on 1/7. Originally they were going to be in an added match on the 1/13 show in some form which couldn’t be announced because the angle hadn’t run.”
On Saturday, AEW released an Omega and Callis promo from after Wednesday’s show in which Callis suggests “an Elite reunion” with Omega and “his two best friends, the World Tag Team Champs” for this Wednesday without mentioning the Bucks specifically.
“Let’s have an Elite reunion as @KennyOmegamanX the AEW World Champ & the World Tag Team Champs have a 6-man tag-team next week!” –@TheDonCallis.

The timeline for Anderson and Gallows to make their AEW in-ring debut alongside Omega Wednesday would make sense considering the three are set to face Impact World Champion Rich Swann and the Motor City Machine Guns this Saturday at Impact’s Hard To Kill pay-per-view.
