MJF wins AEW World Championship at Full Gear

MJF is the new AEW World Champion.
The main event of Saturday’s Full Gear saw MJF capture the title for the first time, defeating Jon Moxley. The finish of the match had MJF going for the Dynamite diamond ring. William Regal came to the ring and admonished MJF for resorting to using the ring, something he had mentioned to MJF in past promos. MJF threw the ring to the floor, but Regal instead grabbed brass knuckles and threw them to MJF after both men went down. MJF then struck Moxley with the knuckles and covered him for the win.
After the match, MJF made comments backstage during the media scrum, saying he deserved this and commented how everyone was fooled.
This ends Moxley’s run with the championship after 59 days, defeating Bryan Danielson in a tournament final at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam on September 21.
MJF returned to AEW at All Out back in September, hiring members of The Firm to help him win the Casino Ladder poker chip. Once Moxley won the championship at Grand Slam, MJF said he would use the poker chip to cash in at Full Gear. During the course of the next several weeks, members of The Firm attacked both MJF and Moxley. Dynamite this past Wednesday ended with MJF making his return to clear the ring of members of The Firm, leading to a staredown between himself and Moxley to close out the show.
