MJF to defend AEW International title in CMLL

MJF is heading to Mexico.

CMLL announced on Friday that MJF will be defending his newly-won AEW International title on August 2 in Arena Mexico. A video aired during their Friday show at Arena Mexico of MJF making the announcement.

The video showed the new champion in a bathtub saying his match against Will Ospreay on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite was the easiest match of his life. He said that unlike Ospreay, he had a killer instinct and that is why he is the longest-reigning AEW Champion, and now the new International Champion. He said the best way to help the world internationally is to take the title to “those masked morons in Mexico.”

MJF won the title on Wednesday in a match that lasted 59:59. The finish had Ospreay hesitate to use the Tiger Driver, which he said he would never use again. The pause allowed MJF to escape and strike Ospreay with the Dynamite Diamond Ring to score the pinfall at the very last second.
