For the first time since losing the title at last December’s Worlds End, former AEW World Champion MJF has returned to the promotion, making a surprise return at Sunday’s Double or Nothing.

Following the opening Will Ospreay vs. Roderick Strong match, Adam Cole came out to the ring for a promo with Tony Schiavone. After talking about giving “The Devil” his due, the lights went out and a quick video played before MJF’s music hit and he emerged.

Clad in a leather-laden jean jacket akin to past versions of Triple H, MJF came out to the ring and Cole asked for a hug. MJF gave him one and then kicked him low before hitting a brain buster and him telling security to get Cole out of the ring.

He then cut a promo saying that Cole woke him up and that unlike “those schmucks in the back, I don’t need a New Japan or Vince McMahon to make me a star, MJF made MJF. No more ha-ha, no more kangaroo kicks, no more bullsh*t, it’s all about hate, hate, hate. When you’re driven by hate, no one is safe.”

After some additional promo work and kicking the mask, MJF then addressed his contract status, revealing a tattoo on his lower right calf that reads “Bet on yourself” with the AEW logo and that he wasn’t f*cking leaving.

This was the first face-to-face confrontation between MJF and Cole since Cole turned on MJF at Worlds End and revealed himself to be The Devil character that had been harassing MJF for month.

After losing his title to Samoa Joe at Worlds End, MJF took time off to heal a dislocated hip and torn labrum and went completely dark on social media outside an April post on X addressed to The Rock.

He returned to the platform following the segment:
