MJF retains AEW World title over Kenny Omega on Collision

MJF retained the AEW World Championship on Saturday’s Collision.

In what ended up being a hotly contested back-and-forth match, MJF pinned Omega clean after hitting Adam Cole’s Panama Sunrise, then followed with the heatseeker piledriver for the win. After Omega recovered, the two shook hands after the match.

Towards the end of the match, Don Callis came out with the screwdriver in an attempt to attack Kenny Omega. The referee eventually threw him out, which led to the finish of the match.

As a result, MJF will now become the longest-reigning AEW World Champion in history. He will surpass Kenny Omega’s reign, which stands at 343 days. MJF won the championship last year at Full Gear.

After MJF retained the championship on Saturday, a number of people were seen watching the results backstage, including Samoa Joe, Wardlow, and Powerhouse Hobbs. Bullet Club Gold were also seen watching the results, as Jay White is set to challenge MJF for the championship on November 18 at AEW’s next pay-per-view event, Full Gear.
