MJF: This is the ‘most professional’ Tony Khan has ever been online

MJF believes AEW has an “insane amount of momentum” right now with Tony Khan fully locked in on creative and making a change in his online behavior.

While appearing on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, MJF discussed how Khan has shifted his approach to only promoting AEW instead of taking shots at other promotions. That change, MJF believes, is because Khan really is only focused on AEW instead of what others are doing.

“I think you’ll notice that Tony’s approach is a whole lot more different, and this is the most professional he’s ever been online. He’s only talking about our company, he’s not throwing potshots,” MJF said. “And that’s because the truth is, he really is now only focused on our sh*t — fully. This is the most ‘in the weeds’ — as the kids would say — that I’ve ever seen my boss be. And I think right now we have an insane amount of momentum.”

MJF thinks the social media tribalism between AEW and WWE fans is dumb, but he’s not going to police how fans behave. The most important thing is that they just enjoy professional wrestling.

“All Elite Wrestling makes professional wrestling better — point blank,” MJF said. “And I think the reason that when a WWE wrestler is getting interviewed they get asked AEW questions, and the reason why when MJF is getting interviewed he’s getting asked WWE questions, is because the fans can’t help but be tribalistic. And I think it’s dumb, but by all means do with your fandom what you want to do. What I say is, just enjoy professional wrestling. But most importantly, enjoy me — because I’m a generational talent.”

MJF’s interview on Unlikely was to promote “Happy Gilmore 2,” which premieres on Netflix this Friday. MJF plays one of Adam Sandler’s sons in the movie. In AEW, MJF is currently in possession of a contract that grants him a World Championship shot whenever he wants it. The title is held by Hangman Page at the moment.
