MJF addresses issues with Tony Khan on AEW Dynamite

MJF aired his grievances with AEW owner Tony Khan and the company’s fans in a promo segment on Dynamite.

In a worked-shoot promo, the real-life issues between MJF and Khan were used for storyline fodder, as MJF detailed his frustration with being underpaid and under-appreciated in AEW in a profanity-laced tirade.

MJF said that he no longer wanted to be in AEW, and demanded that Khan fire him. MJF stated that he was “the second-biggest minute-by-minute draw” in the company, but was not paid as highly as the “ex-WWE guys” that Khan has signed to the company. MJF also chided fans as “uneducated marks” for not appreciating his reputation as a “safe” wrestler who does not “drop people on their heads.”

MJF called Khan “a f—— mark” in a line that was bleeped on the TBS feed, but aired unedited on the international FITE TV broadcast.

MJF caused a buzz this past weekend when he no-showed an AEW Double or Nothing Fan Fest meet and greet, kicking off two days of speculation as to whether or not he would appear at Sunday’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

Reports indicated that MJF had purchased a ticket to fly out of Las Vegas prior to Sunday’s show, where he was scheduled to face Wardlow. He ultimately did appear, losing to Wardlow in the main card opener.

Khan and MJF reportedly met Tuesday to discuss MJF’s issues with the company.

MJF will become a free agent in 2024, and has openly discussed the matter on AEW programming, indicating that he expects to create a bidding war between AEW and WWE for his services. In the interim, MJF has been seeking a pay raise, with reports indicating that Khan is willing to give MJF the raise if he extends his contract.
