Mercedes Mone on AEW All In match vs. Toni Storm: ‘Everything felt aligned’

  • Ian Carey

Mercedes Mone addressed her AEW All In match with Toni Storm in the latest edition of her Mone Mag.

Mone dropped her first AEW singles match on the show. She says it was a match five years in the making and part of the reason she signed with AEW in the first place.

“This may have been one of the greatest weeks of my entire pro wrestling career. If not, it was definitely up there,” she wrote.

Mone addressed her match with Storm:

“I’d been waiting for this one for a long time—five years, maybe more. Part of the reason I signed with AEW was because I wanted to wrestle Toni Storm. She’s become such an incredible character and a true star.”

“When the match finally happened at All In, everything felt aligned. The build-up, the energy, the entrance -was all perfect. Even before the bell rang, I could feel how special it was going to be.”

Later in the mag, Mone teased that she wants another match with Storm.

“Wrestling ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm was everything I hoped it would be—and more. And as I walked back through the curtain, one thought kept repeating in my head: ‘I want to do that again. I can’t wait to wrestle her again.'”

Mone also compared the match with some of her all-time favorites, ranking it number two behind only her match against Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. She also compared being in the semi-main event of AEW All In to headlining night one of WrestleMania 37 against Bianca Belair.

“You can’t compare them. Not because one is better than the other, but because they represent two very different promotions and two completely different eras in my life. Main eventing WrestleMania was a childhood dream I never thought would come true. To be honest, no one ever let me believe it was possible. But deep down, I kept that dream alive, and when it finally happened, it felt surreal—like I was living in someone else’s fairy tale.”

Mone has not been announced for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite. However, her opponent at All In, Toni Storm, will face Billie Starkz in singles competition. You can sign up to receive copies of Mone Mag here.
