Mark Briscoe makes AEW return on Rampage

Mark Briscoe made his return to AEW TV on Rampage.

Kip Sabian was in the ring running down Philadelphia sports teams on Friday when Briscoe made his return to AEW. Sabian confronted Briscoe, but was quickly taken out.

Briscoe had been out of action since July with a knee injury that required surgery. He was previously set to challenge Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship at that month’s ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view. However, just days prior to the match it was announced that Briscoe was out. Castagnoli instead successfully defended the title against PAC.

After his brother Jay Briscoe’s death in January of this year, Mark Briscoe has continued to wrestle for both ROH and AEW. Originally, the Briscoes were banned from AEW television by Warner Bros. Discovery due to homophobic comments Jay Briscoe had made years prior. That ban was lifted following Jay’s death.

At ROH Supercard of Honor in April, Briscoe unsuccessfully challenged Samoa Joe for the ROH Television title.
