Kyle O’Reilly ‘might be a wrestler again’ by AEW Canadian tour 2024

Kyle O’Reilly, who has been out of action for more than a year, is hoping to make his in-ring return in the coming months.

In a post on his Instagram stories on Thursday, O’Reilly wrote that he “might be a wrestler again” by AEW’s Canadian tour in 2024. AEW has announced eight Canadian dates that will be taking place from March to July of next year.

“I might be a wrestler again by this time [fingers crossed emoji],” O’Reilly wrote.

O’Reilly hasn’t wrestled since June 2022. He underwent neck fusion surgery in September of that year to “fix some nerves that had gotten themselves compressed somehow.” O’Reilly had been in pain and losing strength in his right arm for some time and wasn’t able to delay surgery any longer.

This October, O’Reilly opened up about a rare post-surgical complication that he had suffered from: a C5 palsy. O’Reilly couldn’t move his right arm after surgery but was able to regain his motion with help from a Neubie device.

“The wrestling ring has felt like an oasis in the desert for me these last 12 months,” O’Reilly wrote in October. “I know if I keep walking I’ll eventually reach it but I don’t know if it’ll just disappear when I get there like a mirage. I’m so parched, all I want to do is get to the oasis and drink to quench my thirst but I have to be careful or I’ll trip in the sand or collapse from the heat. I guess that’s why this is taking so long, patience and perseverance.

“The good news is I can see the oasis now, it’s definitely not a mirage.”

Fightful reported on Wednesday that O’Reilly has been backstage at AEW shows as of late.
