Hikaru Shida injured, out of AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament

Note: This story features spoilers for AEW Rampage, which will air this Friday.
Hikaru Shida is out of the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament, and Kris Statlander will replace her.
While interviewing Jade Cargill, Kiera Hogan, and Red Velvet on the AEW Rampage that was taped after Dynamite, Tony Schiavone announced that Shida was injured. As a result, Kris Statlander will be replacing Shida against Red Velvet in a quarterfinal match that will take place on next week’s Rampage. It wasn’t mentioned what kind of injury Shida had suffered.
Shida had originally defeated Julia Hart to qualify for the tournament back on the April 6 edition of AEW Dynamite. Her last match to date was for Oz Academy in Japan back on May 8, when she teamed with Hiroyo Mastumoto and Rina Yamashita in a losing effort against Maya Yukihi, Mayumi Ozaki, and Saori Anou.
The Owen Hart Foundation women’s tournament started tonight on Dynamite, with Toni Storm defeating Jamie Hayter to advance to the semifinals. Storm will face the winner of a Britt Baker/mystery joker opponent that will take place on next week’s Dynamite.
