Kenny Omega returns at AEW Worlds End, confronts Kazuchika Okada

For the first time since May, former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega made his return at Saturday’s Worlds End to confront Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada.

Okada had just defeated Will Ospreay in the Continental Classic tournament when Christopher Daniels came out to say he would usually present him with the title but he was no longer an executive vice president. He then said, “But he is” and Omega’s music hit.

Omega brought the belt down to the ring and handed it to Okada who raised it above his head. The two stared each other down before Omega eventually left. A good portion of that staredown was done with the All In Texas banner prominently in the background, perhaps a clue as when their eventual clash will take place.

The two longtime rivals in NJPW also had a confrontation in May that was disrupted by Okada’s Elite teammates in the Young Bucks and Jack Perry. The new-look Elite then took Omega out in storyline. Omega had been out of action since last December due to multiple injuries and ailments including diverticulitis that nearly took his life due to it being undetected.

Omega will make his in-ring return at next Saturday’s Wrestle Dynasty against Gabe Kidd in a show that will feature wrestlers from NJPW, AEW, ROH, CMLL and Stardom.
