Jon Moxley to face Konosuke Takeshita on AEW Rampage

On a Wednesday media call, AEW head Tony Khan said to expect a “big card” for Friday’s AEW Rampage and that card was announced during Dynamite.

In the headliner, former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will be in action against Konosuke Takeshita. On Dynamite, Moxley issued a challenge to anyone who was ready to step up to him and show him what they got.

This will be a rematch from July’s Fyter Fest in an interim AEW World title eliminator match that Moxley won. This will be Moxley’s first match since losing the World title at last month’s Full Gear while Takeshita is 2-0 since returning to the promotion.

Orange Cassidy will put his AEW All-Atlantic title against an opponent of Kip Sabian’s choosing. The two have been at odds recently and when Cassidy offered up the title shot Wednesday, Sabian said he was hurt thanks to Dustin Rhodes in the Dynamite Diamond Ring battle royal. Cassidy then told him to find somebody.

The Firm’s Lee Moriarty & W. Morrissey will be in tag team action which marks Morrissey’s first in-ring action since signing with AEW in September. It will be his first match of any kind since June.

Viewers will also hear from both Ruby Soho and Tay Conti following Soho’s return and attack on Conti last week. Athena will also speak ahead of her challenge of ROH Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez at Saturday’s Final Battle.

Finally, the winner of the previously announced title match between Regina Di WAVE Champion Hikaru Shida and The Bunny now has an added bonus. The winner will get a future title shot at AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter.
