Jon Moxley set to defend IWGP US title on AEW Dynamite

Jon Moxley will return to AEW next week and will defend his IWGP United States title on the first night of Fyter Fest.
It was announced on tonight’s Dynamite that Moxley will defend the title against Karl Anderson. This will be Moxley’s first match since he and Eddie Kingston lost to the Young Bucks at Double or Nothing back in May.
A video aired tonight, which featured Karl Anderson talking about his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling. He noted that Kenny Omega was the first IWGP United States champion and the fact that Moxley currently holds the title makes him sick. He said that next week he would do what he and Doc Gallows do best, beat up Jon Moxley.
Moxley has been IWGP United States champion since January 4, 2020, when he defeated Lance Archer at Wrestle Kingdom 14. He has been unable to defend the title in Japan and instead has defended it on NJPW Strong. He also defended the title successfully against Yuji Nagata on the May 12 edition of Dynamite.
