Cage match stipulation added to AEW World title match at Beach Break

The first-ever AEW singles clash between reigning World Champion Jon Moxley and Samoa Joe will now take place inside a steel cage.
The bout takes place on the Beach Break edition of Dynamite, set for Wednesday, May 14th in Chicago, Ilinois.
The news was announced Wednesday on Dynamite following another physical interaction with Joe and his AEW Trios Champion teammates in The Opps and the former champions in the Death Riders.
As Joe was choking out Moxley in the entrance aisle, Claudio Castagnoli delivered the same move to Katsuyori Shibata that he did several weeks ago to Hook, driving him stomach-first into a flipped over chair. After the heels ran away, a frustrated Joe then issued the challenge for their title clash to be in a cage which was later confirmed.
About Jon Moxley vs. Samoa Joe
Joe held the World title for nearly four months from December 2023’s Worlds End when he defeated MJF through April 2024’s Dynasty when he lost it to Swerve Strickland. This is his first opportunity at winning it back.
Moxley, in his fourth reign as champion, just surpassed the 200-day mark as current champion. He has six successful defenses since winning it last October from Bryan Danielson.
According to Cagematch, the two have only had one singles match: a December 2017 WWE Raw match that Joe won.
