For the first time since 2017 in a much different era, a singles match between AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and Samoa Joe appears to be in the cards.
Joe choked out Moxley on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite to bring home the Trios titles for himself, Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs. The Death Riders then opened Thursday’s live Collision by trashing the ringside area before Moxley got into the ring to chants to “You tapped out!”
Moxley said he no longer likes the Young Bucks after their attempt to help Wednesday and then turned his attention to Joe who he called “the most undisputed baddest man” in wrestling when he first started. He said he treated him with respect and reverence, but that Joe started something Wednesday he has to finish. He said he will fight Joe to the death for the title anytime and then offered up a challenge.
According to Cagematch, the two have only had one singles match: a December 2017 WWE Raw match that Joe won. The two shared the ring on opposite sides of tag team matches throughout that year.
