Jim Ross taking time off from AEW due to skin cancer treatments

Due to 22 consecutive daily radiation treatments to treat skin cancer, Jim Ross will be off AEW Dynamite until “hopefully” December 29th according to the legendary announcer.

Ross announced the news Thursday night on Twitter.

Due to my skin cancer care totaling 22 radiation treatments starting Monday, I will hopefully return to the announce desk on December 29 in Jacksonville.

@TonyKhan supports me on this strategy which has been a blessing.

My thanks for all your support.

AEW head Tony Khan tweeted in support of Ross shortly thereafter. It’s unknown who will replace Ross in the third seat alongside Excalibur and Tony Schiavone over the next month of shows.

At the end of Wednesday’s Dynamite, Ross’ sign off indicated he was going to be missing some time which he hoped would not be the case when he initially got the diagnosis earlier this month.

The 69-year-old had two spots successfully removed from his back on Monday while the radiation will address the initial diagnosis of skin cancer found in a growth above his ankle. This is Ross’ second bout with skin cancer.

The December 29th show will be a live New Year’s Smash edition of Dynamite in Jacksonville, Florida.
