Jamie Hayter out of action with injury

One of the top wrestlers in AEW’s women’s division is currently out of action with an injury.
Dave Meltzer confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that an injury is why Jamie Hayter has not appeared on AEW television over the last couple of weeks. Hayter hasn’t wrestled since losing to Mercedes Mone in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament finals at Double or Nothing, though there was an angle on the post-PPV episode of Dynamite where Hayter was taken out by the debuting Thekla.
“I guess she was hurt in the Mercedes Mone match,” Meltzer said. “So when they did the Thekla injury angle, that was set up to cover for [Hayter’s] injury and to get a storyline reason for her to be out. I just figured it was a way to introduce Thekla and set up a feud and that they didn’t follow up on, because there hasn’t been anything. But that’s the reason that it wasn’t followed up on, because she actually went into it hurt. When she is ready, they do have an angle they can follow up on.”
Fightful had reported earlier this week that Hayter is not currently cleared to compete and, while there isn’t a timetable for her return at the moment, AEW is hoping to have her back soon. The exact injury Hayter is dealing with has not been reported.
The 30-year-old Hayter is a former AEW Women’s World Champion. She had victories over Billie Starkz and Kris Statlander in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament before losing to Mone at Double or Nothing on May 25.
