Jake Roberts ‘doing a little bit better’ after hospitalization for pneumonia last week

Jake Roberts says he’s feeling better after spending four days in the hospital last week.

The 69-year-old addressed his health during the most recent episode of his podcast. Roberts says doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia and also discovered a few other health issues he will have to address.

Roberts said:

“I’m doing a little bit better. I had a pretty scary moment last week. I got incredibly sick, and I wound up going to the hospital on Friday night at about 2 o’clock in the morning, and I don’t remember a damn thing. It’s pretty scary, but I came to find out I had pneumonia, and that’s not a good thing for me. I already have COPD, and to get pneumonia is like you’re flirting with disaster there.”

“I was in the hospital for four days and very grateful to find out that I’ve got a couple of issues and I did not know. One is I had blood in my urine, didn’t know that. Another thing is, apparently, I’m leaking blood somewhere in my gut, and that’s causing my iron levels to be low, so that’s not a good thing.”

“Then, to top it off, I got a problem with my ticker. But by going in, I caught it, and we got to go have a couple of procedures done, and it’ll be all hunky dory then.”

Roberts says he had a fever and pain in his gut that led to him going to the emergency room last Friday.

Roberts first debuted with AEW in the lead-up to 2019’s All Out, appearing as a Blackjack dealer in vignettes. He appeared on AEW Dynamite for the first time on March 4, 2020, in a promo segment with Cody Rhodes.

In addition to his on-screen role as a manager in AEW, Roberts also works as a special consultant for the company’s community outreach programs. He was last seen on AEW programming in October when he completed a trade with The Don Callis Family that saw Lance Archer align with Callis and Roberts with Rush, Dralistico, and The Beast Mortos.
