Jade Cargill believed to be leaving AEW, going to WWE

An AEW star could be on her way out of the company.

Fightful reported overnight that Jade Cargill is believed to be finishing up with AEW. Sources within both AEW and WWE told Fightful that they believe Cargill is on her way to WWE.

After being away from AEW for nearly four months, Cargill returned to television on Collision last Saturday. That set up a TBS Championship match between Kris Statlander and Cargill that was taped on Wednesday night and will air on this Friday’s episode of Rampage.

At the Rampage tapings, Cargill lost clean to Statlander. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that fans who attended the tapings felt like Cargill was saying her farewell to AEW. Cargill “waved to the crowd like she was leaving” and she and Statlander hugged.

It was confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the belief is Cargill is going to WWE.

“The belief by the end of the night was that she’s probably done with AEW and likely going to WWE,” Bryan Alvarez said. “But, you know, there’s a possibility. Until she’s signed with WWE, I suppose there’s still a chance she could come back to AEW. But certainly everyone has this idea that she’s gone.”

Cargill made her in-ring debut in 2021 by teaming with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal on an episode of AEW Dynamite. They defeated Cody Rhodes & Red Velvet.

Cargill became AEW’s inaugural TBS Champion in 2022. She held the title for more than 500 days until losing it to Statlander at Double or Nothing this May.

During a recent interview with Women’s Wrestling Talk, Cargill praised Tony Khan as a “phenomenal boss” and said there’s no other place she’d want to be than AEW.
