Interim AEW World Championship match set for Forbidden Door

Jon Moxley’s opponent in the interim AEW World Championship match at Forbidden Door is set following today’s NJPW Dominion show.
Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Hirooki Goto to advance in the eliminator tournament to crown an interim AEW World Champion at Dominion, and will now face Jon Moxley in Chicago on June 26 at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
Tanahashi appeared on the June 1 AEW Dynamite and confronted CM Punk, seemingly setting up Punk vs. Tanahashi in an AEW World title match in Chicago. Punk then went on the shelf with an injury, and underwent surgery this past week.
An eliminator tournament was set, with Jon Moxley taking on a battle royal winner on the June 8 Dynamite, and Tanahashi facing Goto at Dominion. Moxley defeated battle royal winner Kyle O’Reilly, and now Tanahashi has defeated Goto to set the first official bout for Forbidden Door.
The first-ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion will also be crowned at Forbidden Door, with a four-way tournament final the only other match announced for the event.
