Hikaru Shida wins Women’s World title at AEW Dynamite 200

Hikaru Shida is once again the AEW Women’s World Champion.
Shida defeated Toni Storm at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite 200 to capture the Women’s World title for the second time.
After kicking out of Toni Storm’s Storm Zero finisher, Shida avoided a second Storm Zero attempt with a backdrop, then stacked Storm for the pin to kick off he second title reign on the 200th episode of Dynamite.
Shida is the longest-reigning AEW Women’s World Champion, as her 372-day title reign from May 2020 to May 2021 in Dynamite’s pandemic era remains the longest in company history. Those 372 days with the title are also the most combined days in the four-year history of the belt.
Storm’s second reign with the AEW Women’s World Championship ends after 67 days after she defeated Jamie Hayter to win the title for the second time at May’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Prior to Wednesday’s defeat, Storm had successfully defended the title three times during her second reign with wins over Skye Blue, Willow Nightingale, and Taya Valkyrie.
Shida’s title victory capped the 200th episode of Dynamite in Tampa, Florida. Our full report from the show can be found here.
