Eddie Kingston vs. Konosuke Takeshita set for AEW Rampage

Three new matches were announced for this Friday’s AEW Rampage including what is likely to be a hard-hitting bout between Eddie Kingston and Konosuke Takeshita.
This will be Kingston’s first AEW action since last Wednesday’s Blood & Guts match while Takeshita will go in on a two-match winning streak. His match against Anthony Henry at the recent Dark tapings will likely run Tuesday.
It’s their first-ever singles match, but they did battle over Kingston and Joe Gacy’s EVOLVE Tag Team titles in 2019 when Takeshita and MAO unsuccessfully challenged for them.
Orange Cassidy will take on Tony Nese after Nese and “Smart” Mark Sterling challenged him in a backstage segment Wednesday. Sterling asked Cassidy and Best Friends to sign a petition to fire Swerve Strickland and they refused. If Nese wins, Cassidy will sign it.
ROH Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez and Serena Deeb will also be in tag team action against opponents to be named. The two have been on a winning streak since first getting paired up.
The new matches join the previously announced tag team match with ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham & Lee Moriarty against Tully Blanchard’s Gates of Agony.
Here’s the lineup, taped following Wednesday’s Dynamite in Rochester, New York:
- Jonathan Gresham & Lee Moriarty vs. Gates of Agony
- Eddie Kingston vs. Konosuke Takeshita
- Orange Cassidy vs. Tony Nese
- Mercedes Martinez & Serena Deeb vs. TBA
