Deonna Purrazzo names AEW opponents she’s looking forward to facing

While being interviewed on Insight with Chris Van Vliet this week, Deonna Purrazzo gave a list of opponents she’s looking forward to facing in AEW.
Purrazzo is a heel on the AEW roster, recently forming a team with Taya Valkyrie. She told Van Vliet that Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, Skye Blue, Mercedes Mone, and Kamille are among the opponents she wants to share the ring with.
“Kris Statlander. Very briefly a few weeks ago I worked with Willow Nightingale, but I think she’s just such an organic babyface that would be great for like a program with the real heel Virtuosa. Skye Blue, when she’s healthy to come back. Mercedes Mone, of course,” Purrazzo said. “You know, Kamille just debuted with Mercedes not too long ago. I think Kamille is amazing, I’d love to like actually wrestle her. We’ve done like one little thing together ever. And there’s so many people on our roster.”
Purrazzo stated that her goal in AEW is to become a champion. The AEW Women’s World Championship is currently held by Mariah May while Mone is the TBS Champion.
Following her January debut, Purrazzo has now been with AEW for more than nine months. She told Van Vliet that she’s now starting to get into a groove in her new wrestling home.
“I feel like I’m just now feeling like myself again. Feeling like ok, this is ‘The Virtuosa.’ I’ve been there nine and a half months now,” she said. “That first stretch, it was like I don’t know what I’m doing or who I am. I’m working a brand new system with television and times, and I felt really thrown off. So I feel like now I’m finally getting in a groove that will propel me.”
Before signing with AEW, Purrazzo was a three-time Knockouts Champion for TNA and had spent some time with WWE/NXT. Though she already knew some of the behind-the-scenes contributors in AEW, there are others that she needed to form relationships with.
“You’re forming relationships with brand new people, brand new producers. Luckily, I had Madison [Rayne] there. And I had Scotty 2 Hotty, who I knew from NXT. I know Pat Buck, and I know Sonjay Dutt. But, you know, I don’t know Tony Khan [before coming to AEW]. I don’t know Jerry Lynn. I don’t know RJ City, who is such a big hand in all the women’s stuff. I don’t know Jen Pepperman, who came in,” Purrazzo said. “So creating those relationships and forming bonds and trust with each other so they know, ‘I can put Deonna in that position.'”
